Meet Dr. James E. Wood Jr.
About Dr. Wood
James E. Wood Jr., MD, a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, serves as the chairman of MedStar Harbor Hospital's department of orthopaedic surgery. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Morgan State University and graduated Doctor of Medicine with high honors from the University of California, Irvine. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Wood was a sports medicine fellow with the Robert K. Kerlan/Frank Jobe Orthopedic Group, team physicians for the Los Angeles Lakers, Dodgers, Angels, Rams and Kings. He also undertook an orthopaedic traumatology fellowship at San Francisco General Hospital.
Dr. Wood's 30 years of experience in total joint replacement, and arthroscopic diagnosis and repair of peripheral joints helps patients achieve maximum results with minimal intervention. He was an early adopter of partial knee replacement techniques and now teaches these techniques to orthopaedic surgeons across the country.
