Screening and Prevention

Early detection is key to the treatment of all types of cancer. You and your physician should discuss what types of cancer screenings you should have regularly based upon your health history. Typical cancer screenings include breast exams and mammography; pelvic exams and Pap tests; fecal occult blood test; rectal exams, sigmoidoscopy; testicular self-exams.

Getting onto a regular schedule of cancer screenings can be lifesaving.

MedStar Harbor Hospital recognizes the importance of early detection and has several programs available for those who may not be able to afford these screenings on their own.

Learn how one patient took on cancer, like it was an out-of-control race car, and won.
